Cycling Proficiency  in Year 5

Congratulations to Year 5 who have completed their cycling training last week and passed with flying colours!

Cycling is good for the environment, our health and Year 5 have gained skills to progress to cycling on the road.

Year 5 and 6 visit to Whitby.

Here's what some of our Year 5/6's had to say about their day out in Whitby ......

'This has been a great trip, I mean what’s not to like about a picnic and playing on the the beach in the sunshine and some shopping'!

'I liked looking for stones at the beach with my friends'.

'199 steps UP to the Abbey – very tiring but worth it as the Abbey was really beautiful'.

A tourist stopped a teacher and asked ‘where do children sign up for a school like this!’

'4 hours of beautiful sunshine, the waft of fish and chips (which made us all hungry) and golden sand between our toes – what a fantastic day'

'We had lunch next to the whale bones, we could see the old town below us and the Abbey perched on the cliff, all bathed in sunshine'.

'We played rounders. There was quite a bit of cheating going on, like moving the bases, but no one minded as we were all just having fun and not taking it seriously'.

'We all took some spending money and went to the sweet shop and souvenir shop, I bought some strawberry rock '.

'We spent about an hour on the beach playing games and digging holes, someone dropped their spending money in a watery hole but luckily we found it'!

'The coach ride was awesome' .

Birch Class visit Bradford Grammar School

One of Birch's pupils recently won the Ilkley Carnival cover competition for age group 8 to 11. As a prize the whole class were invited to Bradford Grammar for the morning for an Art Workshop where they designed individual cross sections of either a lemon or orange segment on polystyrene which they decorated and painted and printed onto a sheet.

Forest School fun in Year 6

Year 6 recently had a trip to Ilkley Tennis Club to take part in a workshop as well as watching some of the summer tournament.
