Welcome to Our School
"Where every child has the chance to shine"
Pupil Wellbeing at Ashlands
Two Valleys and Jenby’s Health and Wellbeing Project.
Schools in the Wharfedale and Aire Valleys form part of the 2VLC (Two Valleys Learning Collaborative). In 2018 they were successful in securing ‘Essential Skills for Life Funding’, through the Bradford Area Opportunity Bid, to develop a bespoke mental health and wellbeing program to offer at our schools.
The Essential Life Skills Funding is designed to support the delivery of extra-curricular activities for young people across the Bradford district from April 2018 until August 2019 to help children develop resilience, team working, communication and other ‘essential life skills’.
Schools are working closely with Dr Natalie Jewitt, Clinical Psychologist to equip teaching staff, pupils and parents with knowledge of how to promote emotional and mental health both within school and also in the home.
At Ashlands we run a weekly session on a Wednesday evening from 3.30 - 4.45. The sessions follow the suggested format provided by Dr Natalie Jewitt and parents are given access to online materials so they are able to discuss the sessions with their child.
