We follow the Early Years Curriculum in the Foundation Stage, which is organised into the following prime areas of learning:
And into specific areas of learning which are:
All of the above are underpinned by the characteristics of effective learning:
From an early stage in the school year we assess each child’s stage of development to help us plan their needs.
Children’s early years at school are very important and it is essential that each child feels secure, happy and purposeful in learning and in relationships with other children and adults.
During the Reception year we endeavour to make sure that parents know what is going on in class through termly curriculum letters and ‘Share and Celebrate’ sessions. When children have been in school for a few weeks a letter goes home explaining the breakdown of the school day. Parents can support at home with reading, early numbers and homework tasks.
We have high expectations of individual achievement, which is monitored and tracked through observations and informal assessment to ensure that each child achieves their full potential.
