Covid-19 Catch Up Premium at Ashlands
Ashlands Primary School has been allocated a grant of £28,720 up to 31.08.21 with £7,200 being carried forward to the academic year 2021 / 2022.
This money has been spent on assisting children to ‘catch up’ on education missed as a result of the pandemic; with a particular emphasis on assisting disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils.
This money is being spent as follows:
Early Years Speech and Language Deficit.
Small group work with nursery and reception children to boost their speech and vocabulary understanding.
Year 1 Speech and Language Work
Elklan and other vocabulary based speaking activities.
Fischer Family Trust Lightening Squad
Intense small group reading sessions (1:4 ratio) designed to develop reading skills and comprehension for children from Year 1 – Year 4
National Tutoring Opportunity – White Rose Maths
Intense small group maths sessions (1:3) designed to fill in gaps in Maths knowledge across school.
Small Group Catch up - English
Initially focusing on upper KS2, designed to close gaps, develop writing and comprehension in after school sessions.
How will this expenditure on the educational attainment of pupils be assessed?
Attainment progress will be measured for all children taking part in the catch- up programmes. The children’s individual progress will be calculated by measuring their attainment before and after the catch-up work to determine the effectiveness of the process.
