Ashlands Primary School

"Every child has the right to shine"

Friends of Ashlands

Friends of Ashlands, or ‘Friends’ as we are more well known, is the parents-carers-teachers association (P.C.T.A.) for Ashlands Primary School.

Our stated aim is to ‘enhance the Ashlands experience for you and your children’. Whilst the most visible part of what we do is organising fundraising events to enable the school to buy items for which the school does not have a budget and which are over and above the resources provided by the LEA, that’s only part of the story. As importantly, we aim to provide opportunities for the school community to get together and have fun through a programme of events throughout the year.

Friends is a registered charity (No 1094114) and has an official committee who meet every half term to plan and review events and make decisions.

On Sunday 19th May, Friends of Ashlands will be hosting our second sponsored walk up Pen-y-ghent fell. Families, pupils and staff are welcome to come along, walk the 6 miles, 649 metre high fell together, have a brilliant, adventure day out and raise money for Ashlands Primary School. Please sign up by emailing your details (names, child’s year group) to . If you want to keep a track of your sponsors and amount donated, sponsorship forms can be collected from the school office. Please can all monies raised be donated directly to Friends of Ashlands through their Just Giving page – noting the child’s name and Pen-y-ghent hike as your reference. We are not able to accept cash donations – sorry.

Friends Meetings

We welcome all to our meetings, if you are unable to attend due to the location on time please email us and we can see about updating future meetings to a location that works better for you.

You do not need to attend the meetings to be part of Friends- volunteering at events, spreading the message of our events and even attending events are all essential to making Friends such a successful group- raising money for your children’s school.”

Getting involved with Friends either by coming to meetings or by volunteering to organise or help out at events is an excellent way to meet new people in the school community. New faces are always welcome and indeed necessary to make sure we can continue the work we do.

We are delighted that you are part of the school family and we look forward to seeing you at social and fundraising events.

Class Representatives

We are also supported by a team of Class Reps who provide links throughout the school and help organise and recruit volunteers for events as well as volunteering themselves.

If you are willing to act as a class rep for your child’s class please email us.
