Welcome to all our new to Ashlands children and families. Whether your child is starting in nursery, reception or further up school, we are delighted that you have chosen Ashlands and look forward to your child starting their learning journey with us.
Information for new to nursery children
We are delighted that you have chosen Ashlands nursery. We recognise that starting nursery is a milestone for both parents and children and we will work closely with you to make sure that these first steps away from home are happy for you both.
You should by now have received a letter confirming their September sessions and asking you to book in for settling in sessions.
We are asking you to choose 2 sessions and they are at 9.15am and 1.30pm on:
Monday 30th June
Wednesday 2nd July
Thursday 3rd July
Friday 4th July
Please contact the school office to book; each session will last approx. 1 hour. It is entirely optional whether you leave your child with us or stay as well; whatever you feel will work best; and please feel free to decide on the day!
If you unable to attend any of these, please contact us and we will make alternative arrangements.

We would like to invite all our parents and carers, both those brand new to Ashlands as well as those of you who have children in nursery or higher up school to our Welcome Talk.
During the talk we will tell you about various aspects of Ashlands Primary School, including our overall aims, aspects of the curriculum in Reception, lunchtime routines, drop off and pick up arrangements and other useful information. We will talk you through ‘A Day in the Life of Reception’ and there will be a display of work and activities from Reception as well as information on school uniform, Saplings Before and After School Club and Early Years Holiday Clubs.
We will be serving teas, coffees and light refreshments giving you the opportunity to chat with other reception parents. Staff will be available to answer any questions you may have.
We would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by Friday 4th July on office@ashlands.mlt.co.uk
Storytime with the class teacher 2.45pm – 3.15pm
We are running some ‘Storytimes with the class teacher’ over the next half term. This is a lovely, informal opportunity for you and your child to come and see us, meet some new friends and get to know their new classroom and teachers.

Thursday 12th June
Wednesday 18th June
Wednesday 25th June
Thursday 10th July
It would be lovely if you could join us for a story on all or any of the below dates. No need to book, just come to the school office. If your child is currently in nursery on the day please come to the office and we will take you down to the classroom to meet your child.
Tuesday 2nd September – Return to School.
School re-opens on Tuesday 2nd September. We will be asking the children to attend either 9.00 – 11.00am or 1.00pm – 3.00pm. We will let you your timing early July, before we break up for the summer.
From Wednesday 3rd September we would like all the children to attend full time.
Wednesday 3rd we will be serving teas and coffees in the hall immediately after drop-off. We do hope that you can stay and meet other parents and carers whilst we settle the children into their new class.
