Welcome to all our new to Ashlands children and families. Whether your child is starting in nursery, reception or further up school, we are delighted that you have chosen Ashlands and look forward to your child starting their learning journey with us.
Nursery in September
The office will already have confirmed your sessions as well as sent you a welcome letter and admission paperwork.
We would like to invite you to spend some time in the classroom and meet the staff on Wednesday 8th July & Wednesday 1st September 2.00pm – 3.00pm. If you can’t make these dates please contact the school office.
Reception in September
You and your child will already have received welcome letters detailing key dates, summarised below:

Wednesday 8th July – Ashlands Reception Welcome Talk – 2.00pm.
You and your child are invited to our welcome afternoon on 8th July. During the talk we will tell you about various aspects of Ashlands Primary School, including our overall aims, aspects of the curriculum in Reception, lunchtime routines, drop off and pick up arrangements and other useful information. We will talk you through ‘A Day in the Life of Reception’ and there will be a display of work and activities from Reception as well as information on school uniform, school meals, Saplings Before and After School Club and Early Years Holiday Clubs.
The talk will last approx. 45 minutes and afterwards we will be serving teas, coffees and light refreshments giving you the opportunity to chat with other reception parents. Staff will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Whilst this is happening your child will spend time exploring the reception classroom and outdoor space and meeting the teaching team as well as making some new friends.
Parents and children should come to the main school office; if your child is already in nursery on the day then we will take them through to reception to meet the rest of the children.

Wednesday 2nd September – Return to School
School re-opens on Wednesday 2nd September. We will be asking the children to attend either 9.00 – 11.00am or 1.00pm – 3.00pm. We will let you know your timing in early July, before we break up for the summer.
From Thursday 3rd September we would like all the children to attend full time.
On Thursday 3rd we will be serving teas and coffees in the hall immediately after drop-off. We do hope that you can stay and meet other parents and carers whilst we settle the children into their new class.
Year 1 – Year 6
If you have a child joining us in September in Year 1 – Year 6 we will have been in contact with you to discuss their admission to school.
On the afternoon of Wednesday 8th July we are having our whole school transition afternoon. On this afternoon the children move to their new September classroom and meet their September teacher. It would be lovely if your child could join us on this afternoon and make some new friends.
